DAY ONE, July 26, 2021
A special thanks to R&D Paving out of Franklin, NH for their work and expertise for this paving project. Jeff Twarog and others from this company were great about communicating and answering questions during the entire project. C&W Services and Dover School District Facilities Director Michael Brooks and Dover School District Business Administrator Michael Limanni were also instrumental in making this project happen during all of its phases. To all of the previously mentioned and the other sub-contractors, thank you from Woodman Park School.
"The Reclaimer" This machine scrapes the pavement and tills it into the ground material underneath.
The Reclaimer is tilling/grinding in stones to make a more firm base before the pavement is added.
The "Gas Station/Lower Foyer" parking lot is being worked on as well.

DAY THREE, July 28, 2021
The Gas Station Lot gets more base material.
Family Drop Off/Pick Up Loop near the playground gets compacted and leveled.
Family Loop to Bus Loop Intersection gets more material and graded to the proper depth for a solid base. This project goes all the way from the Bus Loop to Parker Street.
Bus Loop gets material added/removed to reach the proper depth for a base before paving.
The Grader moving material before compaction by the rollers.
DAY FOUR, August 2, 2021
Paving equipment dropped off today.

"Dave the Grader" moving material in preparation for the next day's "Binder" base coat.
DAY FIVE, August 3, 2021
The base "Binder" coat is being laid down today. The Binder coat is more coarse than a top coat and is delivered at around 130-200 degrees in temperature. The Paver was filled and has its sides down in this picture.
Here the Paver has its sides up to help move the material to the back to the Sifter section.
"Joe the Foreman" has a control attached to the Sifter to help determine the depth (thickness) of the base Binder coat of pavement.
The Paver and Dump Truck move at the same rate of speed so an even coat can be applied.
Here, Joe is using a level to make sure the slope of the Binder coat is flat and in the correct direction. The teenager in the black coat is new to the profession and works at least 50-60 hours a week as a summer job.

The truck driver asked that this picture be taken for him. He is proud of his truck.

The curb is being re-set in the bus loop.
Granite curbing to be reused.
Skid Steer with a scissor pincher/grabber taking out the curbs.
Setting the edge with the granite curbs. Cement is being added between the curbs in this picture.
The Bus Loop Sidewalk was prepped, compacted, and paved.
The Roller and Tamper have been busy.
The dump truck and skid steer fill the paver and the rest is done by the workers.
DAY EIGHT, August 9, 2021
The Sidewalk of the Bus Loop is getting a final top coat.
The "Shimming" paving work was completed near the curbs and now a final top coat will be added.
The angles, depth, placement, and feed rate are all taken into account. There are at least a handful of workers and they often use non-verbal hand signals to communicate due to the noise.
There is an auger (hard to see) in the apparatus to move the paving material from the green bin to the spreader.
The dump truck has to go at certain rate of speed while lifting the dump body to fill the paver as they both move forward,
The roller compacts the top coat. It also has a sprayer that puts water on the roller wheels to help cool both the machine and the top coat of pavement. The water also prevents pieces of the pavement from sticking to the roller wheels.
View of the Door #5 Parking Lot and ramp up to the Family Drop Off line.
Cliff is the driver of the Tack Truck. "Tack" is an adhesive that goes on the binder (base) coat before the final layer of pavement is placed on top. Tack has to be at the temperature of 167 degrees Fahrenheit before added to the surface of the binder coat. This truck keeps the tack liquid heated until applied by extended arms or hose.
DAY TEN, August 10, 2021
The painters from Lakes Region Striping Company are measuring and using chalk to mark where the parking lines need to go.
The painter is using a line striper to paint the white parking lines. The process goes very quickly.
